Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – City Tour & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport or pick-up from your hotel, you will meet our experienced driver-guide who will brief you about the safari itinerary.
City Tour in Kigali
Before heading to the park, enjoy a guided Kigali city tour, including a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial Center, a deeply moving site that commemorates the victims of the 1994 genocide. This will give you a deeper understanding of Rwanda’s history and resilience.
After the city tour, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before departing for Volcanoes National Park in Musanze District, a scenic 2.5-hour drive north of Kigali. The journey offers breathtaking views of the Rwandan countryside, rolling hills, and lush green landscapes.
Upon arrival, check in at your selected lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Safari Adventure
Wake up early for a hearty breakfast and transfer to the Volcanoes National Park Headquarters for a pre-trek briefing by park rangers. Here, you will be assigned a gorilla group based on your fitness level and preference.
Gorilla Trekking Experience
Equipped with trekking gear, water, and a walking stick (provided if needed), embark on a guided hike into the misty forests in search of Rwanda’s endangered mountain gorillas. The trek can last anywhere between 2 to 6 hours, depending on the movement of the gorilla family.
Once you locate the gorillas, you will spend one magical hour observing and photographing them. Watch as they interact, play, and feed, an experience that is both exhilarating and humbling.
After the trek, return to the lodge for a leisurely lunch and spend the afternoon relaxing or exploring the local community.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking or Dian Fossey Hike – Return to Kigali
On the final day of your safari, choose between golden monkey tracking or a hike to Dian Fossey’s grave.
Option 1: Golden Monkey Tracking
Golden monkeys are a rare primate species only found in the Virunga Volcanoes region. They are active and playful, making for an exciting trek. Spend about an hour watching them jump between bamboo trees and interact with their group.
Option 2: Dian Fossey Hike
Take a guided hike to the Dian Fossey Tomb and Karisoke Research Center, where the legendary primatologist conducted her groundbreaking work on gorilla conservation. The trek offers historical insights and an opportunity to see more wildlife along the way.
After either activity, return to the lodge for lunch before departing for Kigali. Upon arrival in the afternoon, you will be dropped off at your hotel or Kigali International Airport for your flight home.
