Rules and Regulations for Gorilla Habituation Experience

Here are some rules and regulations for the gorilla habituation experience in Uganda:-

Age: You must be at least 15 years old to participate in the gorilla habituation experience.

Fitness: You should be physically fit and prepared for the humid and muddy conditions of the rain forest.

Clothing: You should wear protective clothing and boots.

Permits: You need a permit for the gorilla habituation experience. Permits are in high demand during the high season, which is from June–September and December–March. It’s recommended to book your permit three months in advance.

Porters: Hiring a porter can help you carry your gear and contribute to the conservation of mountain gorillas.

Distance: You should keep at least 8 meters away from the gorillas. If they move closer, you should stealthily move back to maintain the distance.

Behavior: You should be patient and obedient when in front of the gorillas. You should keep your voice low, stay in a tight group, and avoid touching the gorillas.

Food and drink: You should not eat or drink near the gorillas.

Photography: You should not take flash photos.

Rubbish: You should not leave any rubbish in the park.

Sneezing and coughing: If you need to sneeze or cough, you should do so away from the gorillas and into a handkerchief or your elbow.

Spitting: You should avoid spitting on the ground or vegetation.
